Through legislative action and the State University of New York (SUNY), a major system grant has been secured to support the adoption and expansion of Open Education Resources (OER). Alfred University qualifies for a share of these funds through the New York State College of Ceramics.
We plan to use the majority of these funds to provide $500 stipends to AU Faculty who convert Allen Term and Spring 2018 courses to make the majority of the course materials OER. OER are defined as “teaching, learning, and research materials that reside in the public domain or have been released under an intellectual property license that permits their free use and re-purposing by others.”
The materials below provide more details about this initiative. Priority will be given to courses with an enrollment of at least 15 students. Faculty who convert multiple courses to OER should submit one agreement for each course. Previously converted courses and new courses are eligible. Agreements received by November 15, 2017 will receive fullest consideration.
If you have any questions, or would like help finding OER materials, please contact Brian Sullivan at Herrick Library (firstname.lastname@example.org).
