Read&Write Gold is an educational support program that was designed to help students with reading and writing difficulties to learn, interpret, and understand material in alternative formats.
This program is a toolbar that can be used with any computer system.
The toolbar is full of features that can make reading, writing, and studying easier.
A major feature is the text-to-speech option that allows you to have textbooks*, PDFs, or web materials read to you.
Other features include active editing while writing, speech making, screen masking, along with study guide and bibilography builders. *If you are interested in having a textbook in a format that will allow you to use it with Read&Write Gold, contact the Center for Academic Success. They will work with the publisher to secure permission to copy the material.
The Read&Write Gold installation file is available on the U Drive:
U Drive -> public folder -> ITS -> ReadandWrite -> Read&Write11.exe
If you need assistance with installing the software, visit the Information Technology Services helpdesk on the lower level of Herrick Library.
Beginning in the summer of 2015, Read&Write Gold will be available on many public computers across the Alfred University campus.
